This year we went on an 18 day camping trek to Manasalu. Ram, Tilac and the support crew displayed great professionalism in there work and showed concern for our well being throughout the trek. Let me describe the 18 day trek in a few words: warm, hot, sunny, raining, slippery, cold, hard, tiring, harder, challenging, informative, wet, very warm, snowing, freezing, full moon, clear starry nights, extremely hard, peaceful, windy, enjoyable, exhilarating, and LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF IT. The guide/porters could not have been more helpful and friendly. Nepal is scenically a very beautiful country and Annapurna must be one of its gems. We were fortunate to be treking in spring time so that as well as the excellent mountain scenery, with clear early morning views, we were treated to the blossoms of thousands of rhodadendrums and primulas and the perfume of the thickets of Daphnies, a real bonus! The more I reflect on the wonderful time we had, the more I realize how indebted we were to Sambu for his guidance, understanding, flexibility and professionalism, traits which do not always fit together in a single person. He always asked us what we waned and was almost always able to accomadate us, even when it meant a change of plans. Plus, he was magnificent in getting us down from Lukla to KTM when it looked as though we might otherwise have been stranded there for days.
