The beautiful Darjeeling located in West Bengal is famous for the tea industry and various flora and fauna. It lies in the foothills of the lower Himalayas from where one can enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas. This town became the tea hub in India and produced the finest tea leaves in the country. Initially, this town is popular as the Queen of Hill station as well as the toy train station. On the other hand, Sikkim is a state in India that borders three different countries, Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan. It is the home to over two hundred monasteries and is strongly influenced by Tibetian Buddhism. Sikkim indeed is the land of a fairytale with its glistening high altitude lakes, rolling green mountains, rhododendron fields as well as vivid monasteries, not to forget, this place is famous for the wonderful view of Mt Kanchenjunga.

The tour starts from Bagdogra, a small hill station town in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. From Bagdogra, you will drive for nearly 5 hrs to Gangtok. The distance between Bagdogra to Gangtok by road is 123 km. Similarly, the drive offers you the beautiful lanes of Sikkim. Sikkim has a lot to offer such as Tsomgo Lake, Tashi viewpoint, Ranaka Monastery, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, and Dordul Chorten stupa. In addition to this, you will visit Lachung famous for Yumthang valley and Zero Point. Furthermore, this tour lets you have a thrilling rafting experience at the Teesta river. Finally, our last destination will be Darjeeling which is popular for tea gardens as well as tiger hill and Ghoom monastery.

SHORT ITINERARY

Day 01 :

A tour to Darjeeling and Sikkim starts with your landing to Bagdogra Airport. Our representative will pick you up from Bagdogra Airport and transfer you to the hotel in Gangtok. We will hold a pre-tour meeting where we will introduce you with your guides. Gangtok has a lot to offer you as it is popular for its Buddhist monasteries along with the natural landscapes. However, the real tour to Gangtok begins the next day as today you will be resting in the hotel after an exhausting long ride. Overnight at a hotel in Gangtok.

Day 02 :

Today we will spend our day in Gangtok. Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim and it has a lot to offer to the visitors. The well-managed surroundings, the peaceful environment, and the beauty of nature make Gangtok an even more amazing place for travel. For anyone willing to enjoy the nature and natural scenario Gangtok is the best destination for you. Early morning after breakfast we will visit Tashi viewpoint which is about 8km from Gangtok. Nothing seems much more satisfying than enjoying great pictures of sunset and sunrise as well as the startling view of the entire great Himalayas from the viewpoint. Then after breakfast, we will visit the Ranaka monastery, 20km from the town. Ranaka monastery is also called Lingdum Monastery where one can know about Buddhism and its culture. Besides, Banjhakri Falls is our next destination from there we will go for a ropeway ride. Later, we will visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and Dordul Chorten stupa. We can go to the flower exhibition in the evening. Overnight at the hotel in Gangtok.

Day 03 :

Our destination for today is Lachung. Lachung is the mountain village in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is close to the Tibetan Border, in northeastern India. Early in the morning, we will make our way to Lachung which is about 117km from Gangtok. Lachung village is the home to a 19th-century Buddhist monastery. Moreover, Lachung is popular for its waterfalls, pine forests, and hot spring. En route, we will visit Bhim Nala Waterfalls which is one of the tallest waterfalls in Sikkim. It is at a distance of 13km from Lachung situated at Khedum Village. This waterfall is popular for its height and it looks like a three-stage waterfall. You can enjoy the whole scenario from the small viewpoint which is just opposite the falls. Similarly, Lachung offers you the stunning views of tall dark Himalayas, gushing waterfalls, Striking fruit orchids, and winding glaciers rivers. Overnight at Lachung.

Day 04 :

Lachung is one of the best destinations when it comes to nature and natural scenery. There are several places to explore in Lachung. Today we will spend the rest of our day exploring Lachung. Early in the morning after breakfast, we will visit Yumthang valley and Zero Point. Zero Point also is known as Yume Samdong is close to the India-China Border. This place is covered with snow throughout the year. It is 23km from Yumthang at an altitude of 15000ft. You will get marvelous scenic views from this point. you get to enjoy the hot spring bath at the river called Cebu Chhu. On the other hand, you will explore Yumthang valley which is a valley of flowers and a nature of Sanctuary with rivers, hot springs, etc. Therefore, you will encounter picturesque grazing pastures surrounded by the mountains along with the Himalayan flowers. Overnight at Lachung.

Day 05 :

Today we will bid a farewell to Lachung and proceed to Gangtok. We will enjoy the 3-hour ride observing the natural scenario that this route offers.on our way, we will make several stops to view nature and capture it in the memories of photographs. Upon our arrival in Gangtok, we will enjoy the local folk dance.you will enjoy the Lepcha dance, Bhutias dance as well as Nepalese dance in the evening. This diverse dance from Sikkim signifies peace and harmony, love, integrity, and mutual respect among the multiracial. Overnight at Gangtok

Day 06 :

When exploring Gangtok how can someone miss the high altitude scenic lake- Tsomgo lake. Tsomgo lake is one of the must-see places in Gangtok and a prime attraction place for tourism. Early in the morning, we will visit Harbhajan Singh Mandir which is a holy shrine that honors Indian army soldiers. From there, our journey to Tsomgo lake begins which is 40 km from Gangtok at an elevation of 12,310 feet. Tsomgo is a high altitude scenic lake regarded as sacred by the Sikkimese. The lake remains frozen during the summer season. However, It is like a fairytale lake with icy blue water reflecting the striking peaks of the Himalayas. Yakes rides are offered at the side of the lake. On the other hand, you can visit Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary which is situated around the area adjoining Tsomgo. It is 31 km east of Gangtok which covers 31 sq km of total area. Therefore, you will spend your day at Tsomgo lake and in the evening return back to Sikkim. Overnight at a hotel in Sikkim.

Day 07 :

Today we will explore another place popular as a hill station- Darjeeling. But before that, we will enjoy the thrilling water experience in the Tista River. After breakfast, we will visit the Tista River for the thrilling Rafting experience. Tista River is a 315 km long river that rises from the eastern Himalayas. Rafting in this river is one of the popular sports adventures. Consequently, the long stretches of this river make rafting comfortable for even beginners. As you raft down, you will experience the captivating view of dense forests along the slope of the mountain. Moreover, the chirping of the birds, green lush vegetation, and the river scenario create another unforgettable memory in this place. After rafting, we will have lunch and continue our journey to Darjeeling. Overnight at Darjeeling.

Day 08 :

Darjeeling is a town in India’s West Bengal state. Darjeeling has a lot to offer to tourists. The graphic landscapes, tea plantation, eternal weather, the slopes and the stunning views of the Himalayas make it one of the best destinations for tourism. Whereas, we will be spending our time in Darjeeling today. Starting with the Tiger Hill at an altitude of 2590m, our journey to Darjeeling sightseeing begins. From there, we can enjoy the sunrise view in the Kanchenjunga range. A visit to Darjeeling is incomplete without a joyride to the Darjeeling Himalayan railway. It is also called Darjeeling Toy Train that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. It was constructed between 1879 and 1881 and is 88-km long in distance. Besides, we will explore the Ghoom monastery at an altitude of 8000 feet. Likewise, We will even explore the happy tea valley state at an altitude of 6800feet. It is the second oldest tea estate in Darjeeling which consists of 437acres in total land area. It reflects the growth of the finest shrub as well as offers a natural scenic view.

Day 09 :

Today is our final day of the Darjeeling Sikkim tour. Early morning after breakfast bidding a farewell to Darjeeling we will proceed to Bagdogra Airport. Our representative will drop you at Bagdogra airport and wish you your happy and safe journey.

Q. Do you provide any gears for trekking?

A. Yes, we do provide roughly 65 liters one duffel bag, sleeping bag and down jacket to use for trekking without extra charge, if you do not have.

Q. Can I rent or buy gears in Kathmandu?

A. You can buy or rent trekking boots and rest of the gears, you need to need to buy.

Q. How much weight does porter carries?

A. We do provide one porter between 2 trekkers. One porter carries 25 to 30 kg respectively.

Q. How much weight does airplane allow to Lukla?

A. Twin Otter and Dornier planes are the primary mode of transport to and from the airstrip at Lukla. It allows 15kg per passenger, including had bag.

Q. Can I take some more gears for paying extra charge?

A. It is hard but some time, they do allow 2 to 3 kg with paying extra charge US$ 2 per kg

Q. When Should I pack my gears?

A. You will have pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu that night you pack trekking gears.

Q. What equipment should I carry at Daypack?

A. Most of our day packs have a capacity of roughly 20 to 24 liters. You need to carry only day use things like water bottle, light jackets, some extra shocks, sun hat, sunglasses, raincoat, light glove, scarf, toilet paper, and small towel, camera, some personal medical, Sunscreen, Passport, money, camera, trekking poles and some snacks. Rest of the gears will be carried by porter.

Q. Can I store suitcase and other unnecessary gears in hotel in Kathmandu or at your office?

A. Yes, you can store either at the hotel in Kathmandu or at our office without extra charge.

Unique Path is a great choice for anyone who wants to explore the Himalayas. My wife and I made several treks with Unique Path to Manaslu, Kangchenjunga, Tilicho Lake, and Mustang. As with all treks, there will be unforeseen circumstances and you’re always beholden to nature. So you want a guide and an agency that is not only experienced enough but also sensitive and quick to changes on ground. I am very grateful for the deep experience that our guide, Dambar had. He made us feel safe and constantly had everything under control despite the weather and some early sickness some of us had. Coupled with his sharp wit and deep knowledge, this became such an enjoyable climb that was filled with priceless stories that I can’t wait to tell the kids about. The porters too were a lively bunch that ultimately became friends and we shared lots of fun moments on the mountain together. We were very fortunate to have Unique Path Trekking for our EBC with 3 Himalaya passes expedition, we were so happy/satisfied with Unique Path trekking. I just returned from a wonderful hike to Everest base camp with helicopter return. I was traveling solo am so grateful to Manager Babu and guide Suresh for looking after me. It is a trip I will remember the rest of my life. We started with a half day tour of Kathmandu and then flew to lukla on the next day to begin the trek. All the arrangements were made ahead of time and the folks unique path team constantly got on the phone to make sure the logistics went smoothly. Suresh kept a moderate pace and a great sense of humor. We made good time throughout the hikes and always got to the lodges on time and in daylight with energy left for the next day. The weather also cooperated this March and we had beautiful sunny skies and gorgeous Mountain View’s throughout the trek.
