OVERVIEW

This mountain is the shortest possibility to gain a 6000 m-peak while doing the famous trekking around Annapurna. The highest point of this Trekking is Thorong La (pass), 5416 m. From this pass it is the first mountain to the south.

There are no detailed maps available about this area of Nepal (correct me if I’m wrong). The maps you can buy contain south of the pass only a mountain called Khatung Kang (6488 m). But this is not the mountain you can see and climb from Thorong La, but the one behind it. Because of that these mountains often are mixed up. At least in Germany the mountain is called Thorong Ri.

Hope all is good in Nepal and business is doing really well. Apologies re the delay in sending this email….wanted to pass on our sincere thanks to Unique Path Trekking for arranging and organizing our Everest Base Camp trek (17th – 30th September). It was definitely an experience and one that would not have been the same if it had not been for everyone concerned from Unique Path. Can you please pass on a very special thanks to Ram who looked after both Steve and I so well. He went beyond his duties as a guide and gave us an insight into other aspects of life in the mountains and Nepal which helped us get a better appreciation for things and added another dimension to our trip. His experience and valuable advice in handling all kinds of situations like weather, health issues relating to altitude sickness and our general safety and well-being was greatly appreciated. Please pass on our regards to Ram and our best wishes to him, his wife and daughters – hope they are all well. Also please ask Ram to pass on our hello and special thanks to Lokhinder – our porter. Again he went beyond his duties as a porter, and ensured that we were ok throughout our trip. Both Lokhinder and Ram helped make our trek what is was – a memorable experience which they will always be a part of. I have attached a few pictures of our trek which I would greatly appreciate if you could show it to Ram and if possible print out a couple so he can give to Lokhinder when he sees him next. Babu, I hope you don’t mind but I have taken the liberty of sending you some feedback plus a query.

Babu, Thanks for reminding me to forward you thanks from both my partner Emma and myself. We had a fantastic time undertaking the 10 day Annapurna track. The views, people and overall experience was brilliant. This was in no small way due to the experience, commitment and knowledge of both our porter and guide. I have attached a photo from the top of Poon Hill. It was great sunrise. I wish you all the success in the future. Kind Regards,

Emma and BlairUnited Kingdom
