Pisang Peak

higlights

  • Since the terrain can be hard and the days long
  • Hikers on these treks should be in good physical condition and have some previous mountain walking experience.
  • It does not require any technical experience.
  • Steep climbing may be involved, although it is never necessary to use ropes.

OVERVIEW

Seen from Pisang the peak rises from yak pastures above the village in a uniform slope to the final summit pyramid, which is an undistinguished snow and ice slope. Looked at from above Ongre, the peak is a little more interesting and can be seen as a curved ridge, with the faces above Pisang being the truncated southern end of the mountain. This is made up of steeply titled rock, the dip slope of which faces the valley and is well seen in this peak and the great rock slabs further down the valley.

The peak obviously has a lot of scope for exploration and pioneering the whole of the western flank, which is guarded by hanging glacier, would appear to offer a considerable challenge, whilst a traverse of the whole summit ridge, which connect to a more northern summit before curving back west looks a superb possibility. Access to the western end of the ridge, however, looks problematical as the ridge as guarded by huge rock slabs, a feature on this side of the valley.

Hi Babu, Sorry for not replying earlier, We had a wonderful time trekking with Unique Path and will be back your teams organising skills were great with everything running as planned and even when we changed the itinerary during the trek there was no problems. You have great staff and that makes all the difference. As you know this was the second time trekking in Nepal for half our team and we all loved it. Please pass on my regards to Chevon and Tillar. Regards,

Babu….I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the trek we took with Ram and Sannu (spelling) …. without them and all of their careful guiding we would not have had much success. Ram was very aware of all of us and our limitations and how we were doing…I do not think any of us were aware of the effects of the high altitude and how exhausting the hiking could be at those heights…..Ram was great…easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, very well organized, very much in control, and a very nice person to be around. Though I did not have any real problems, he was very sensitive to the health and well-being of everyone…and when there was a need he was there…..including finding horses for those in our group that were having problems getting down…. I think that Sannu has the ability to be an exceptional guide…under Ram guidance he was a great help…high energy, great spirit, always a happy face and ready to help….he does need to learn English in a serious way…without this skill he will always be limited to an assistant role, when his personality is one that would inspire leadership…. If anyone asks I would say our trek with your organization was very professional, very well organized, easily adaptable to changes, and very enjoyable. It provided all the guidance, information and physical help necessary to make for an exceptionally wonderful experience… Thanks gain for a job well done and I hope to see you again soon…I will recommend your group to everyone and nayone who would go trekking in Nepal…….. Best regards….

Hi Babu, We would recommend Unique Path Trekking & Expedition who organised our trek on the Dhaulagiri Circuit and an ascent of Dhampus Peak. Led by Furi we had a tremendous trek and then spent time in Pokhara and Chitwan NP. We were grateful for the flexibility provided by Babu, who arranged the trip in Nepal.

Hi Babu, Thank you for this wonderful trekking ! Our team was great, always smiling and friendly; our guide very interesting, he always had something to say about the country, the culture, the mountains and he speaks very well English. We learned a lot thanks to him about Nepal. I really enjoyed the 10 days we spent all together. The equipment provided by Unique Path Trekking was also good, warm jackets and sleeping bags. I would recommend this company for trekking in Nepal. Thank you again to our team, Sambhu (our guide) and our 2 porters, Harry and Ramesh!! Regards,
