Unique Path adventure to Khair / Kopra Ridge Panorama trek leads to one of the world’s best trekking destination between massive world’s 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m / 26,795 ft), 10th highest Annapurna (8,091m / 26,545 ft) and of Vara Shikar peaks / Annapurna Fang, on the least trekked and seldom visited area of Khair /Kopra Ridge Panorama and its sacred glacial lake of Khair or Vara Pokhari.

Unique Path adventure to Khair /Kopra Ridge Panorama in the grandeur picturesque country in the heart of Mid West Himalaya within west of Annapurna & East from Dhaulagiri massive range of mountains with other smaller adjacent peaks and rolling high hills and walking through one of the prettiest forest with tall trees of rhododendron, magnolia, blue pines, firs and oaks.

To start this adventurous trek with overland journey to scenic Pokhara city a popular touristic place in the shade of Annapurna Himalaya with Phewa and Begnas Lake, drive continues through interesting towns, farm lands and villages on this interesting ride towards Nayapul, where this wonderful adventure begins trekking to Lyangdi Gurung and Magar tribe farm village for 1st overnight stop.

From here following the high ridge line leaving the warmer and sub tropical region towards alpine and cooler temperature area on the mid hills with amazing scenery of rolling green hills, farm villages with view of world’s 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri including views of another massif Annapurna towards east Mt. Manaslu and the majestic peak Machhapuchhre ‘Fish Tail’.

As the walk progress reaching the highland country through typical country farm villages and terraces with patch of beautiful forest, around this high country with rest days to observe the local culture and for acclimatization before heading across the highest point of this adventure, and then heading towards complete isolation in the harmony of nature of high snow capped peaks at Khair / Kopra ridge after passing by the famous view point at Poon Hill at 3,190 meters high scenic hill famous for sunrise over 360 degree panorama of mountain range from Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris Himal all the way to world’s 08th highest Mt. Manaslu in the eastern horizon with towering Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail).

A short walk on the main touristic village of Ghorepani where the Trans Himalayan Salt trade to Tibet via Mustang joins in beautiful forest surrounding, from here heading towards complete wilderness away from the main trekking trail towards Khair / Kopra Ridge, leaving the last village of Chitre, Sauta and Shistibung to reach the heavenly ridge at Khair / Kopra Ridge with mind blowing panorama of Vara Shikar (Annapurna Fang), Annapurna South with parallel range of Dhaulagiri mountains and Nilgiris, an amazing spot to be, here with rest day for optional walk to Khair lake of Vara Pokhari a glacial pond fed by Varashikar and Annapurna glaciers, a sacred pristine lake, where local pilgrims and devotees from all around this area visits here once a year in the month of August (full moon time) sacrificing goats and sheep’s to nature and mountain spirits for good will and good harvest.

From this amazing spot walk to near Pokhara via alternate route towards Gandruk and Landruk a large Gurung village, back to human settlement through enchanting forest of tall pines, firs, magnolia, hemlocks, oaks and rhododendron trees and crossing streams and rivers, and then on the main Annapurna trail from Tadapani onwards, concluding this awesome adventure at Kande back to warmer region, from here a drive leads back to Pokhara and to Kathmandu with overwhelming time in the high Himalayan country of Nepal with grand service of Unique Path cheerful and helpful guides and staffs.

  1. Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan international airport where you will be received by our Unique Path staff with hearty welcome and then transfer to respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu around Thamel area, after refreshing break up, our Unique Path guide will inform on the program regarding hotel, Kathmandu sightseeing and of Khair / Kopra Ridge Panorama trek.
  2. In Kathmandu sightseeing and preparation for the trip. Morning, after breakfast our cultural, city guide will guide will lead you in and around Kathmandu at places of interest and importance, Kathmandu Valley is steeped in history, culture with World Heritage Sites of holy Phasupatinath temple, Boudhanath (Little Tibet), Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) & monasteries, including old Royal Palaces and courtyard; after an interesting sightseeing back to hotel, afternoon preparation for the trip to Khair / Kopra Ridge Panorama trek.
  3. Drive to Pokhara 860m 220 km - 06 hrs. Early morning an interesting scenic drive for about 06 hours to popular tourist city at Pokhara on the main busy highway, the drive carry’s on with fantastic vista of snow capped mountains of Mt. Annapurna-Manaslu and Mt. Dhaulagiri with the famous beautiful peak of Machhapuchhre the Fish Tail shaped mountain which is unclimbed so far and well respected and regarded as sacred mountain in its natural structure, at Pokhara transfer to respective hotels by the serene Phewa lake.
  4. Drive to Nayapul 1,100m begin trek to Lyangdi 1,650 m - 05 hrs. After a wonderful stay in the world’s popular tourist spot in Pokhara, early morning drive leads away from the Pokhara valley, drive takes through mid hills towns and villages with superb views of landscapes and Annapurna mountain range including the majestic Mt. Machhapuchhre “ The Fish Tail” after an interesting two hours journey reaching at Nayapul (new bridge) located on the Pokhara-Baglung / Beni highway, from here our trek starts with a gradual walk through traditional Gurung and Magar tribe villages then the path climbs with super views of Annapurna South 7,219m and Mt. Machapuchere and to farm area’s at Deopur village, this village a mixture of Magars, Gurung , Chettris, Brahmins and Newars people. Continuing on for a short while coming across terraced fields. After some nice break then walk through terraced fields to Lyangdi village for overnight stop.
  5. Trek to Sallijan 2,300 m -06 hrs. Morning walk leads to a steady climb on terraced fields, villages and forest of rhododendron, oaks tree lines, then slowly reaching higher area with change in vegetation and landscapes as temperature gets get’s cooler, trekking through pristine alpine forest then an uphill walk to a small ridge at 2,400m, from here a gradual downhill walk, then contouring the hill high above the Sallijan village at 2,300 m for our overnight stay.
  6. Trek to Nangi 2,100 m - 04 hrs. Today a half day enjoyable walk of maximum four hours in the morning leading to another small pass at 2,480m with wonderful panorama of Tukuche, Nilgiri and Annapurna I. After a good time with the views here on the top, then walk leads to a descend for an hour to a small Nangi village inhabited by Pun of Magar tribe, this farm village at 2,100 m an interesting village with a school supported by Singapore people and Australians. The school also looks after the camping grounds and maintains it. It has a phone and computers and an internet access with well furnished library.
  7. Trek to Phulbari 2,500 m - 06 hr. After a good time at Nangi with afternoon free, this morning walk starts with an uphill reaching to a ridge at 2,300 m with grand views of the world’s seventh highest Dhaulagiri Himal at 8,167m and its range of snow capped peaks. Today’s walk with a combination of ups and down, then it leads on a narrow winding path through rhododendron and pine forest, this morning pleasant walk of near four hours reaches at Ramche offering fabulous views of rolling hills and high snow capped peaks and then slowly climbing to an open grazing area at Phulbari for overnight halt. This spot offers fantastic scenery of surrounding hills and valleys with views of Mt. Dhaulagiri mountain massive range.
  8. Trek to Sauta 2,200 m -04 hrs. Morning walk earlier than normal day as today’s walk leads to the famed Pun Hill at 3,190 meters just above Ghorepani village, trekking for few hours with a steep ascend to this wonderful spot at Pun hill, offering 360 degree panorama of mountain range from Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri’s Himal all the way to world’s 08th highest Mt. Manaslu in the east horizon with magnificent Mt. Machhapuchhre. After an awesome time here descend to Ghorepani on the main trail a village with many lodges to cater the trekkers. After being on the main path for a while our diverts to Sauta village in complete isolation from the popular route, from Chitre village a short distance walk to a lovely farm village at Sauta for overnight stop.
  9. Trek to Chistibung 3,000 m -05 hrs. Starting with a slow gradual morning walk on off beaten trail passing farm fields and scattered villages, trekking north leading through enchanting serene rhododendron and bamboo forest, then a slow climb into woodlands following the route to Khair ridge, walk leads by a small stream then with an uphill through meadow and summer pastures to Chistebung for overnight stop, a small place with few small huts serving as tea-houses.
  10. Trek to Khair or Kopra Ridge 3,870 m - 03 hrs. Today’s walk for few hours to our final destination at Khair also called Kopra ridge, from this place gaining more altitude leaving behind the tree lines only for alpine bushes and shrubs, around this place chances of seeing some wildlife like Himalayan Thar, the Danphe Pheasant (National Bird of Nepal). Morning after few hours of scenic walk finally reaching at overnight stop at Khair or Kopra ridge, a scenic picturesque spot with awesome scenery of surrounding green landscapes along with stunning views of Mt. Dhaulagiri massive range and Vara Shikar (Annapurna Fang), Annapurna South which towers directly from this wonderful spot.
  11. At Kopra Ridge for optional excursion to holy Khair lake. A grand wonderful spot for a rest or free day, being here will be an awesome experience for sporty and energetic optional hike to holy lake at Khair Lake located 4,247 m. which is long and strenuous walk, but worth the views, the site of religious festival occasion held annually around the month of August and September. Villagers from the surrounding area assemble here to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and bathe in the icy waters, offers sacrifices of sheep and goats.
  12. Trek to Dobato 3,420 m - 05 hrs. After a great time at Khair ridge top, morning walk leads to a long descend towards east through grazing lands in the middle of rhododendron forest, from Khair a long downhill walk reaching back to tree lines and towards our overnight stop at Dobato a summer pasture a grazing land for the local Sheppard’s with striking views of Annapurna South and Mt.Machhapuchare 6,993 m.
  13. Trek to Gandruk1,950 m - 05 hrs. With the grand morning views of the snow capped mountains in total wilderness our walk continues on the gradual downhill trail into forest of rhododendron, oak and magnolia, then reaching the main trekking route of Gandruk and Ghorepani trail at Tadapani, after a brief stop here, trek descends to Gandruk for overnight in the comfort of nice and cozy lodge with views of Annapurna Himal with time to explore the largest Gurung village in the Annapurna region. The men folk of Gandruk village have long tradition of supplying some of the finest soldiers in the Gorkha Regiment to both the British and Indian armies. Gandruk a fascinating village perched in a beautiful location; here you will have opportunity to chat with ex-Gorkha soldiers who are only pleased to discuss their association with the British and Indian armies, here above the village provides stunning views.
  14. Trek to Pothana 1, 900 m - 06 hrs. After a nice time at Gandruk village , morning walk on the downhill for an hour to Modi River, then over the bridge with gradual walk and a short climb reaches to Landruk village, after brief time here continue walk on the long winding trail through terraced farm fields and villages then reaching in a small cool forested area, from here an uphill walk for 40 minutes to Deurali ridge at 2,150 m. After Deurali a nice pleasant walk through forest with grand views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu including the Fish Tail peak all the way to Pothana village is reached for overnight stay located in the middle of alpine forest with fantastic views of the snow capped mountains and valley.
  15. Trek to Kande and drive to Pokhara - 01 hrs. Morning with super views leads to a short up through cool forest at Thulo Kharka also known as Australian Camp a wonderful spot in the midst of the forest with large meadows overlooking magnificent views of the Himalayan range of mountains, after a short break here the last hour walk an easy descend to Kande village on the road head that connects Baglung-Pokhara, from here an hour drive back to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in the high mountains.
  16. Drive back to Kathmandu - 06 hrs. Morning drive back to Kathmandu after a wonderful trip in the high mountains of Annapurna area, after reaching at Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure for relaxation and shopping around.
  17. In Kathmandu optional tours & individual activities. Unique Path reserved this as free day in Kathmandu a full rest day for individual activities or another sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu valley on request.
  18. International departure for home ward bound. After an exciting and memorable time in Nepal Himalaya and as per your international flight time, Unique Path staff transfer you to airport for your final departure for homeward bound or to respective countries.
